☛ 11th Doctor fic

[Status] Unfinished. Written 8/5/11

Very quickly the Doctor pulled a nearby lever and with a flurry of speed the TARDIS was set its course. The Doctor wasn’t fiddling anymore.

The Doctor inhaled deeply whilst keeping his eyes glued on the TARDIS. His hair shadowed the features of his face; his head was tilted so low that Amy pondered whether he was sleeping on the spot – it certainly wouldn’t be out of character. Amy leaned in and placed both her hands on one of the TARDIS’ panels.
‘Now, where are we heading?’ her voice trailed off. She hesitated and took her time to try and catch a glimpse of the Doctor’s face. Fortunately, he looked up and glared at Amy before pacing around the interior of the TARDIS. Amy was quick to follow.
‘Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey...much like jelly yet not as yummy...’ The Doctor mumbled many words that didn’t make sense to Amy, but that didn’t matter much to her at the moment.

‘Oh, why oh why did I agree to travel with a mad man and a box.’ By the time Amy had finished her sentence, the Doctor had done a full circle around the front of the TARDIS and had returned to the lever he had once pulled, all doing this while still muttering to himself. He gripped the lever tightly and pulled it down. The loud yet harmonious sound of the TARDIS’ signature siren rung loudly.
‘Here we are, Pond.’ The Doctor bowed mockingly at Amy then walked to the exit. Amy reluctantly watched him as he opened the doors. He went through, closed the door, opened the door again then came back in. Then he walked up the stairs with arms flailing as he confronted Amy. He was noticeably fidgeting.
‘Ah, well it seems we have a teeny problem.’ Amy rolled her eyes; these things happened too much with the Doctor and it was certainly not a slight problem knowing the Doctor, it always turned out to be much bigger than that. She readied herself for the news by crossing her arms and fixing her eyes on the Doctor.
‘See, we’re not at your house. We definitely aren’t. We’re lucky to be in this place actually considering the other possibilities. I mean, think about the planet Yutai. Terrible place for lunch – don’t go there.’ The Doctor spun and flung himself into the air in a fit of joy. When returning to the ground he leaped towards Amy with a grin as big as can be plastered on his face.

‘We’re on Fedliac! Oh, I’ve always wanted to come here but I forgot all about it!’ Amy unfolded her arms. She wasn’t impressed, only slightly interested.
‘What’s so special about it?’ she questioned.
‘It’s a holiday resort. All sorts of aliens come here to relax and generally have a good time.’ For once, this seemed like an inviting place to Amy. Compared to the other planets she had been on with the Doctor which were full of unworldly demons, ruthless aliens and other creatures that only could be described by looking at one straight in the eye. A smile emerged from Amy’s face.
‘No aliens wanting to kill us? Wow, that’s a change!’ She cheerfully said.
‘Except-‘ Amy had saw that coming; she was old enough to know that everything that sounded so good was at a price to pay – mostly at the cost of threat to her life she found out whilst travelling with the Doctor.
‘Except what, Doctor?’
‘Except there’s a party of Fedliac policemen out there pointing their plasma guns at my TARDIS’ doors. They threatened to shoot me, but I ran back in. Ha! I’m much too clever.’ He raised his head up high and tapped his feet gently on the ground with pride in doing so. Soon after, he reclaimed his trusty sonic screwdriver from the recharger from one of the panels and paced towards the door.
‘Ready to reason Pond?’ He adjusted his bowtie until it seemed perfectly straight. Amy sighed before giving a reply.
‘Ah, you mean ready to throw myself in the face of danger again – yes.’ Amy trailed after the Doctor as he led her out of the door. As promised, a group of six aliens in metallic grey padded armour stood with their weapons ready. Their faces were exposed presenting humanoid faces that were a slight pale purple with ridges and dark purple markings scattered all their faces. Each had large, sturdy boots that looked as if they were needed only in harsh conditions. Amy noticed however, the environment around them was covered in soft golden sand. An array of buildings that looked as if they assembled a small city resided in the horizon; the sky above was a light tint of blue that almost resembled a nice summery day in Britain except for the fact that Britain has no dry season and so it was likely to rain on lovely days like this.
‘Hello again my friends, I’m back! Mind if you lower your weapons?’ The Doctor clicked his fingers and with that and only that, the TARDIS disappeared from view. The policemen raised their eyebrows in surprise but then quickly placed their eyes back onto the intruders. One of the policemen stepped closer to him and Amy, examining them as he did so. He was a bit different from the others; firstly he had striking bright green eyes that were shockingly too bright for his grey outfit, secondly and more importantly, he had a bigger plasma gun. Amy looked further at his uniform; etched onto it was the name “TORU” in bright red capital letters. Before Amy could give another close inspection, Toru reached into his pocket and retrieved a handheld device. He placed the front of the device, which featured small grooves, in front of Amy. A green light shone in her eyes until he moved it down and completed his scan.
‘Unknown human woman.’ He said signalling the other policemen. Amy raised her nose in disrespect; she preferred to be introduced in a more pleasant matter. He moved over to the Doctor next. The Doctor stood still watching his watch tick as the policeman completed the scan. ‘Gallifreyan male, consorting the Prime Chief.’ Toru returned his scanner to his pocket and then pulled out another device which turned out to be a phone as he began to speak through it. ‘Uh oh.’ The Doctor blurted.

‘Oh great, what’s wrong now?’ Amy was getting worried, but that was the effect the Doctor had on people.
‘Well, basically, as you know, I’m kind of an endangered species, and they’re aware of that.’ Amy stared blankly at him, attempting to get it in.
‘Don’t worry though, they’ll probably just question us, mostly me though.’
‘Reassuring,’ Amy sarcastically replied. After a minute on his phone, Tokal closed it and lowered his weapon. The Doctor and Amy looked at each other, both perplexed at the events that were unfolding. ‘I thought you said they were going to question us?’ Amy simultaneously alternated her view from Toru to the Doctor.
‘I thought that too but now I think otherwise.’ He lowered his head anxiously then raised it again to look at Amy.
‘Sorry about that,’ Toru squinted a bit as he gave a carefree smile.
‘But the number of tourists has increased and security’s at an all time high. I wouldn’t worry about it though. Any who, you’re free to go I’m pleased to say.’ Toru then signalled the other policemen to make their way back to the city that was evident in the horizon. He took a couple of paces forward before seemingly changing his mind.
‘Oh, do you guys want a lift? You’ve parked, uh…a bit of a way from the local parking lot.’
‘Ah yes that would be grand!’ The Doctor replied with a grand grin.

Chapter 2

White buildings were scattered everywhere leaving shops and leisure centres crowded next to each other. The city had a fresh feel to the air and the sky itself was gleaming from above. Many aliens were enjoying every moment of being there; one scaled alien was sun-bathing outside a hotel, soaking in the immense rays of the two suns above. Others were either chatting or busy deciding which spa they should go to next. The Doctor and Amy had been sitting down enjoying exotic ice cream whilst watching the peacefulness waft through the air. The policeman had escorted them to the middle of the city and left them, just like that. Neither one of them complained though. The Doctor had acquired sunglasses and put them on accordingly even though the two were sitting on an umbrella table outside a restaurant. Amy was eating her rocket ice cream delicately, licking it only when it had melted from the heat every few minutes; her feet were crossed and the warm atmosphere made it feel as if it were the summer holidays again. All too soon the silence was broken.

‘I’m bored.’ The Doctor sprung up instantly and took a gander at his surroundings; he viewed the bushes filled with peculiar purple flowers. He looked at the water bursting out of a nearby water fountain and the way it landed on the floor. He watched as a spoilt insect-like alien bugged his mother to buy him a hat that was much larger than his head. Amy took notice at his interest and got up herself beside him. She was glad that for once her skirt was appropriate for the weather.

‘You’ve always wanted to come here and now you’re bored. I really can’t say I’m surprised.’ Amy finished off her ice cream and threw it in the bin by the restaurant. The Doctor pouted before releasing a faint smile; at this point he was still watching the young alien attempting to annoy his mother so much to buy him a hat.
‘Well, let’s go explore then.’ Without warning, the Gallifreyan ran off heading past the water fountain ahead of them. Amy was quick to follow. From her adventures, she knew how fast he was when he was in a hurry. The Doctor ran past the fountain and into an alleyway where he suddenly turned a corner; unlike the rest of the city, it was mildly unpleasant due to the odd stench occupying the air, yet the buildings were just a darker shade of cream and extremely clean. When Amy had turned the corner, she thwarted straight into the Doctor’s back which nearly knocked both of them over in the process. As Amy regained her balance, the Doctor seemed to be staring blankly at a back entrance door. There was a sign hanging loosely on the door saying:
‘Kingley’s’.

‘Doctor?’ She weakly asked. No reply came for the next few seconds. The Doctor kept turning his head before retrieving his sonic and examining several areas of the alley. ‘I don’t believe it, no, it’s more like I can’t believe it,’ Amy turned her head in interest.
‘Amy, go back to the TARDIS. Grab a coffee, have a biscuit, do whatever. I’ll be right back!’ and with that the Doctor ran off into a rusty old door with its red paint coming of.. Amy reached out to grab his tweed jacket, but it was too late. As he ran through the door, Amy raced to follow him but as she opened the door, there was no sign of him. The room was pleasantly modern with glass dividers creating corridors. Amy marvelled at the glass while she glanced around. There was a room with a table and computer, as snow as white, sitting on a wooden desk. Her curiosity took over and with no fear of consequence, she browsed through the files that were open on the computer.

The Doctor stood diligently as he examined an old, wrecked shed.
